UPDATED – RUMOR: KNIGHT OF THE OLD REPUBLIC Script in Development!
This one is for the fans of the best selling Star Wars video game franchise Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. AintItCool is reporting that the rumor mill has been alive lately with news of a Knights of the Old Republic script being in development.
According to the site, Drew Karpyshyn is the writer of the popular game and left BioWare (KOTR maker) in February of 2012 to focus on polishing his script writing skills. The rumors are coming from unnamed sources at BioWare claiming that Karpshyn is indeed working on a script for Lucasfilm for a movie based in that era of Star Wars. Harry Knowles has reached out to Karpyshyn with no response so far.
In other news, Knowles is also reporting that all that talk of spin-offs is just that at the moment, TALK. Lucasfilm is currently hard at work on Star Wars: Episode VII right now and that is their primary focus.
But the only project that has hardcore active development is EPISODE VII – it is the only STAR WARS project that is beyond the treatment stage. SO – even if this is true, there is zero guarantee that any of the projects that we’re hearing about outside of EPISODE VII will actually come into being. That said – this is one of those dreams that seem to be being pursued, but isn’t confirmed yet.
Keep it here for the latest news about the upcoming Star Wars films!
UPDATE – The following tweet from Drew Karpyshyn denies the whole thing!
@blockadernr2011 @agentjaspor this would also be awesome, but nothing in the works that I’m aware of.#StarWars #rumors
