JOHN WILLIAMS Wants to Work on New STAR WARS Trilogy
A forum member of jwfan.com attended a February 9th concert of John Williams conducting the Young Musician’s Foundation Debut Orchestra and found out some great information. It looks as if the composer of Star Wars is getting ready to get an offer to compose music for the next trilogy in the Star Wars universe.
We’re about to play Star Wars [audience interrupts with cheers] and each time we play it, I’m reminded of the first time we played it decades ago. Neither I, nor George, nor anyone else involved thought this would go far or in a few years there would be a sequel and I’d have to revisit the themes…and years later another trilogy. Now we’re hearing of a new set of movies coming in 2015, 2016…so I need to make sure I’m still ready to go in a few years for what I hope would be continued work with George…[more cheers].
Now the question is, do you want John Williams back for the next trilogy or would you rather JJ Abrams start fresh with a new composer? Leave your opinions in the comment section below!

Either one’s fine to me-if it’s a new composer I just hope they still acknowledge the classic themes and motifs (as necessary to the plot that is).
I would hope JJ Abrams would finish out the first nine movies with John Williams, but I do understand if Abrams goes in a different direction. As ACw stated above, I hope that it keeps the same themes and motifs though.
John Williams is as important and integral a part of Star Wars any anyone or anything else. It’s not going to be the same without him, so I hope he keeps doing it as long as he’s alive — and I hope that’s a very long time.
If they go with a new composer, it will almost definitely be Micheal Giacchino. J.J. Abrams goes to him for virtually everything he does.
